Hi , I am trying to use * map solution option in abaqus. I use CAE. I have imported the deformed shape from odb but it is in orphan mesh form.Is it possible to extract a solid geometric part from it in cae?

I don't know of a what to do that :(
Have you tried to use automatic remeshing in Abaqus/Explicit?

No I have not tried it yet. The manual says after importing the deformed shape there must be a way of turning it to geometry and mesh it.
I will check auto remeshing in explicit and will let you know about my findings.

With regard to your previous post,
I am using visco step so I can not use explicit to use ALE adaptive ( if it is what you meany by automatic meshing) and besides , there is no geometry to mesh as what I have got is an orphan mesh.there must be a way to extract the geometry out of this orphan mesh.

I haven't tried this yet but I think the Python command "PartFromOdb" can be used to do this.

The problem is solved ,
Part from Odb returns the deformed part from the odb ,
there is another command : 2dgeometry from part which returns a geometry oout of the deformed mesh , I was really happy when i found this ,
So if all you want to do is merely extractin geometry out of your orphan mesh you dont need to use other softwares , Abaqus is sufficient for this purpose.

What I found useful for my work,since my model was axisymmetric and hence 2D, was Part2DGeomFrom2DMesh command. check example manual for the billet example. there must be some equivalent to work for 3D models.
