Hello,

When I start abaqus cae/viewer this error message appeared:

X Error: code 154 major 144 minor 5: GLXBadContext.

Warning: Your system needs to be reconfigured to allow OpenGL
rendering to a pixmap or Pbuffer; otherwise, you will not be
able to print or use the probe function in Abaqus/CAE.

But I don't know how to allow OpenGL rendering.

I try to start abaqus with command abaqus cae -mesa and on first impresion it looks ok, but manipulation with the model is so slow that I couldn't normally work and different error appeard:

X Error: code 9 major 62 minor 0: BadDrawable
(invalid Pixmap or Window parameter).

I attached also some info files.
Do you have some idea how to solve it?

Are you using a Windows or Linux computer?
Do you have a reasonable graphics card installed in your computer?

I have seen a similar error running in a virtual machine without proper OpenGL support.

I'm using Ubuntu Hardy Heron.
What do you mean with "a reasonable graphics card"? Graphic card is ATI Radeon X1550. OpenGL is installed. Did you seen the attachment from my previous post? Overthere is glxinfo.txt --> informatons about graphic driver.

Thnx for support

OK, I see. I have the same problem on my MacBook Pro when I dual boot into Ubuntu. I don't have that problem on any of my desktop computers that run the same version of Ubuntu.

I am not sure what causes that problem. My guess is that the graphics driver somehow is not compatible with the Abaqus/CAE application.

Similarly, I have not yet been able to use any of the nice modern 3D visual effects that are available in KDE or Gnome on any of my Linux computers. It just does not work well with Abaqus/CAE. It works for EVERY other program that I use on these computers. Very strange and annoying.

Like you, I would like to know more about what causes these problema and more importantly how they can be solved. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The graphics driver or graphic card is not compatible with the Abaqus.
I installed Abaqus on the computer with Geforce 8600 graphic card, synaptic recommended driver and Ubuntu OS.
Abaqus worked fine witout this annoying openGL warrning.

Nice weekend

Same problem with Abaqus 6.8 & 6.9 on Centos 5.4 and Ati Firegl 5100 which was tested/recommended from Abaqus. But it appeared after an update (system & grafic driver), Before everything went fine.
