Infinite element vs Periodic Boundary Condition

Hi all,
I'm a beginner in Abaqus modelization, so I just starting to prepare a model for study the behavior of an discret cell of a bylayer metallic material when a thermical cyclic load is applied.
My teacher is telling me that I have to use Periodic Boundary Condition, but I think that is better to use Infinite Element around a 3D Unit Cell.

What do you think about?

How could I apply the best solution?

Both approaches are valid in general. What approach is more appropriate in your case will depend on what loads and boundary conditions that you are planning on applying.
