I'm interested in whether the Hybrid constitutive model would be applicable to the rigid absorbable polymers like PLA and PGA. Have you worked with these materials before? Do you see them as being in the same class as UHMWPE which you have focused on in your model validation work? Would you be able to provide services for material characterization and determination of the material constants for our materials? Is an Abaqus UMAT currently available? Interested in hearing from you.

It is with interest that I am reading your message. I am familiar with both PLA and PGA, and although I have yet to model these polymers, I believe that the Hybrid Model (HM) is an excellent candidate for advanced large-strain, termomechanical modeling.

I can provide the material model characterization, and an ABAQUS UMAT is available. Email me at jorgen@polymerfem.com for more info.

Thanks,
Jorgen
