Hi comembers

Doing simulations on a component made of PTFE I have used the experimental data from the download section of this website. Thanks. But I need to know the poissons ratio of PTFE, can someone please help?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Boing,

For most simulations the actual value of the Poissons ratio does not matter much, the main exception is for cases where the polymer part is highly confined and undergoes volumetric compression.

I don't have a reliable value for the Poissons ratio for unfilled PTFE. Perhaps you can try nu=0.4, as an estimation. There are a few good books about fluoropolymers that might have more accurate results.

Best of luck,
Jorgen
