Hi Jorgen,

Have you ever tried the 2-layer viscoplasticity model of the ABAQUS? I was wondering if it could be used for Teflon instead of the DNF model.

Thank a lot,

Roham.

Yes, I have examined the use of the 2-layer viscoplasticity model in ABAQUS. In fact, as part of my presentation at the ANTEC conference next week I will give one example illustrating the capability of this model to predict the behavior of UHMWPE.

In short, the 2-layer viscoplasticity model is basically a plasticity model with superimposed viscosity. This can be handy for simple simulations that don't need to be accurate. Two major problems with the model is it cannot accurately deal with cyclic loading, and that it does not always give reliable predictions for multiaxial deformation states after it has been calibrated to uniaxial data.

For Teflon, I would use the DNF model instead.
