Dear All:

do you have any knowladge about the material behavior of styrene-acrylic copolymer with di-acid esters and inorganic filler? Which model will be suitable for it?

In addition, do you know behavior of styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene?

Thank you.

Those are very specific materials. Have you talked to the manufacturer? Do you have actual samples of these materials?

The best material model for these materials will depend on a number of factors:
 What temperature range are you interested in?
 What strain levels are you interested in?
 What type of behavior are you interested in? Fatigue, monotonic loading, failure, ageing, etc?

Hi, Jorgen:

Thank you.

The strain range is about 40% to 150%. It is mainly shear strain. I am interested in failure of the material.

Polymer material is characterized by viscosity. How can we determine the failure strength? It should be rate-dependent, isn't it? Bascally, which kind of test will be better to obtain the failur strength?

Thank you again.

I recommend that you perform double shear-lap test or torsion tests. I would also perform the tests at conditions that are as close as possible to the real application. I suggest that you test the material to failure at different rates to investigate the rate-dependence of failure. Note, for many polymers, failure is surprisingly weakly dependent on the deformation rate.
