I am trying to model asphalt concrete using Viscoelastic model. But I have found the following warning.

"Output request VE is not available for the material for element type c3d8r!"
what element type is best to simulate visoelastic analysis and get viscoelastic request output?

Bersh;

I would suggest you look at the each of the "output" and "elements" portions of the ABAQUS manuals. Actually, are you using ABAQUS? If so, all this information is laid out very clearly in the manuals.

Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. I am using ABAQUS software and have gone through the manual. I couldn't able to get recommendations/restriction for the element type to be used in Viscoelastic modeling. I wanted also to get residual stress/strain accumulation for for certain number of load applications. Kindly suggest me also your view on this regard.

Thank you once again for your reply.

I didn't recall what VE was so I tried to look it up and found that VE is the viscous strain in the elastic-viscous network in the two-layer viscoplasticity model. Is that what you are looking for??

Are you planning on using the two-layer plasticity model, and not linear viscoelasticity? Why are you interested in the strain in viscous strain in the two-layer plasticity model?

Can you explain more...

Thank you for your reply. I am using linear viscoelastic analysis/ABAQUS-standard/ and would like to get the viscous strain part. I wanted also to get residual stress/strain accumulation for for certain number of load applications as I am interested to evaluate the rate of deformation with respect to time and number of load application. I have found also the above warning message, what element type is preferrable for the Viscoelastic analysis?

Thank you once again for your reply.
