hi,
I am trying to simulate the process of one thing eroding the other thing with Abaqus. But there are some questions that I cannot solve, as follow:
1.I don't know how to define the internal surface of one part
2.Can the eroding be used to the hyperelastic material? And is there some restriction?

1. You can create a node-based based surface that also contains the internal nodes. That way you can capture element deletion.
2. I don't recall what failure conditions are available with the built-in hyperelastic models in ABAQUS. You should check the manuals. I have created my own UMAT and VUMAT subroutines of hyperelastic (and more advanced viscoplastic) models that allow for surface erosion and general failure with element deletion. This approach works well.

First of all I thank you for your response.
I want to simulate the impact of two piece polymer and metal (projectile and plate) in high speed and high temperature. After my study in documentation in abacus user guide I decide to use erode for simulation of this process and now I have some question:
1-using the erode for modeling impact for stress out put is a good way?
2-after the impact of projectile to plate ,chips that produce from the plate due to impact isn't reasonable and not enough, only small element of plate separated from the plate and the other remain and projectile pass through it without the separation of them. What's the matter?

this figure show my model. the chip mean the material separated from the plate after the impact of projectile to plate.
and my important question is: why the material of plate remain after the impact and i named it in picture remain material.
i think this problem occurs due to the material of projectile and plate is same but after i change the mechanical property of two piece i see this problem again
and unfortunately i cant upload my figure of simulation and i try to do it as soon as possible
