Hi Dr. Jorgen,
Currently, I have encoutered a problem in the ABAQUS explicit analysis(drop test), the ratio of ALLAE/ALLIE is very high, about 20%, which means the severe hourglass problem.
Mostly, the parts in the model are thermoplastic. The elements used in my model include C3D8R,S3R,S4R,C3D10M...etc. I know the hourglass comes from the first three elements, but my questions is:
1). Element size: many block parts in the model was thin, about 0.05-0.4. It will lead to very little time increment if I adopt 4 elements in the thickness direction.
2). Hourglass control: even the enhanced hourglass control was adopted, the ratio is still high, can we have some other options?
3). ALLAE tracking: could we have some method to track the source of ALLAE generated in the analysis? then we could do something to cure it.
Thanks & Best Regards~~~
