I will be giving a presentation about how to perform accurate finite element simulations of the dynamic loading response of elastomers and rubbers at the upcoming 2008 Abaqus Users' Conference (http://simulia.com/events/conf_08_reg_main.html). My presentation will review how different constitutive models such as hyperelasticity (neo-Hookean), linear viscoelasticity, and the Bergstrom-Boyce model, can predict the storage modulus E' and the loss modulus E" as a function of strain amplitude and frequency. I will also present the predictions of a new constitutive model, the dynamic Bergstrom-Boyce (DBB) model, which is more accurate than any of the built-in models. The DBB constitutive model is available (http://polymerfem.com/index.php?pageid=umats) as a user-material model.
